Akshar is a reading tutor for children, made by Augment Inc. This page is for parents.
What we collect
- From you: your email and your payment, through Stripe. Stripe handles the card; we never see the card number.
- About your child: their lesson progress (lessons done, stars, days in a row, week badges, the words they read right last time), their age and, only if you add it, their first name. It is kept in your browser and on our server under a private random key that only your lessons link carries, so lessons can carry on from another device. We never keep a recording, a last name or a photo.
- Anyone with your lessons link can open your child’s lessons, so keep it for your own devices.
When your child reads aloud
- Akshar uses the microphone only after you agree, and only while it’s your child’s turn to read.
- The recording goes to a speech-to-text service we pay for (today, through fal) only to turn it into text for the reading check. We never store the recording, and we don’t keep the text.
No ads or tracking aimed at children
- The lesson and progress pages carry no ads, no analytics and no trackers.
- On the pages for parents (the sign-up pages and the welcome page after checkout) we use the Meta pixel to measure our ads. It sees visits and purchases there, never your child’s lessons.
Your choices
- Remove your child’s details from a device at any time on the For parents page, or by clearing your browser’s data.
- To have them deleted from our server, to cancel, or to ask what we hold, write to hello@aksharkids.com.
